Have You Had Your Routine Maintenance Performed Recently?

There are several vehicle maintenance issues that you should have performed on a regular basis. These include such services as oil changes, brake inspections, fluid checks, and tire rotations and should be done when your vehicle's owner's manual suggests. You can do all of the above and more at our service center or, if you're mechanically inclined, you could find the parts for your DIY project at our parts department. Here is a closer look at some of the more frequent routine maintenance items.

Oil Changes

For the most part, Ford recommends that their Ford vehicles 2008 and newer should receive an oil change ever 7,500-miles or every six months, although this all depends on how and where you drive. If you happen to drive on dirt roads or in stop and go traffic often, then your oil may need to be changed before these goals. Your oil works hard cleaning, lubricating, and cooling your engine's oil. If you leave it unchanged for an extended period of time it could become thin or sludgy which could lead to larger, and more expensive, engine problems.

Tire Rotations, Alignments, and Switch Overs

Most people who live in northern states know that they should have their tires switched from winter to summer and back or at least have all season tires if you don't tend to get a lot of snow or ice. Your tires are what keep you grounded and definitely need to be taken care of. To ensure even wear, you should also have your tires rotated every time you get an oil change. This will prolong your tire's life and help you keep firmly on the road.

Brake Inspections

Every time you have your tires rotated or changed you should have the technician inspect your brakes, since they are easier to reach when the tires are off. The technician will make sure that your brakes are working properly and that the brake pads aren't too worn. If they are, they will recommend replacing them.

Fluid Checks

You should check your fluids often, just to ensure that there aren't any leaks and that the fluids are fully stocked. The fluids you should check, or have checked, include: windshield washer, oil, transmission, steering, brake, and others.
